Some Solutions for Organic Waste
Save Afrika and the planet
The international meeting
The international meeting of doctors on population health in developing countries focuses on health problems caused by the lack of recycling and poor waste management.
Doctors and experts discuss diseases linked to air, water, and soil pollution, as well as the dangers of plastic and electronic waste. They also seek sustainable solutions to protect the population, including the creation of modern recycling systems, environmental education, international cooperation, and support for scientific research.
This meeting aims to unite efforts to improve public health and preserve the environment for future generations.
Biomethanation (Anaerobic Digestion)
Anaerobic digestion is a natural process where microorganisms break down organic matter (such as food waste, manure, or agricultural residues) in the absence of oxygen.
This process produces:
-
Biogas, a mixture mainly of methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), which can be used as renewable energy.
-
Digestate, a nutrient-rich substance that can be used as a natural fertilizer.
- Heat, which is generated during the process and can be recovered and used for heating purposes or to maintain the temperature of the digester.
Biomethanation is a sustainable solution to reduce the growing amount of organic waste in Africa, while producing clean energy and supporting agriculture.
Composting
-
Composting is a natural process where organic waste (like vegetable peels, garden trimmings, and food scraps) decomposes in the presence of oxygen with the help of microorganisms.
The result is:-
compost a dark, nutrient-rich soil additive that improves soil health and supports plant growth.
-
It helps support organic food production by replacing chemical fertilizers.
-
It also prevents pollution of soil, water, and air caused by the excessive use of synthetic chemical inputs in agriculture.
Composting is a sustainable way to manage organic waste in Africa, reducing pollution and turning waste into valuable resources for eco-friendly farming.
