Ngendahayo Jean Chrysostome

The founder of the Ecorecycling Network  

Ngendahayo Jean Chrysostome is the founder of the project. He has lived in Switzerland for over 24 years. He followed a course in geography with two secondary branches, namely environmental sciences with a specialization in environmental economics, and a secondary branch in geology at the University of Fribourg.

In 2006, in collaboration with Swisstopo managers, he founded a study center called AFRIKARITA.

For over ten years, he has been working with BBC Gahuza (a branch of the BBC covering the countries of the Great Lakes region (Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi) to provide cutting-edge environmental expertise.

Since 2010, he has been working as a researcher at MEVLABS, Inc (Statesboro, GA in the USA), where he supports public health projects to combat malaria in Rwanda and Burundi and tests new Provector products to combat the malaria vector.

In February 2018, he organized the competition to protect Lake Tanganyika as part of AFRIKARITA, in collaboration with OBEA, a Burundian water and sanitation observatory.

In 2008, under the direction of Tiefbau Verkehr und Stadtgrün of the City of Bern, he mapped invasive neophytes (Reynoutria Japonica, Heracleum mantegazzianum, Buddelja davidii, Impatiens glandulifera) in the Bremgarten forest in Bern.

Outside AFRIKARITA, he worked as a mathematics assistant in introductory courses for university studies at the University of Fribourg, where he was responsible for preparing and revising exercises for students.
